Named in the last Will and Testament of John Skinner late of Caton[?] In the said Parish Yeoman who died on the eighth of February 1825 Maketh Oath and saith that he hath made diligent search and due enquiry after, and in respect of the Personal Estate and Effects of the said deceased, in order to ascertain the full amount and value thereof; and that to the best of his knowledge, information, and belief, the whole of the Goods, Chattles, and Credits, of which the said deceased died possessed within the Peculiar Jurisdiction of the Dean and Chapter of Exeter (exclusive of what the deceased may have been possessed of, or entitled to as a trustee for any other person or persons, and not beneficially, but including the leasehold estates for years of the deceased, whether absolute or determinable on Lives, and without deducting any thing on account of the Debts due and owing from the Deceased) are under the Value of one hundred pounds.

This is the last Will and Testament of one John Skinner of Caton in the Parish of Ashburton in the County of Devon Yeoman who am weak in body but of sound and discerning? Mind, Memory and understanding praised be God for the same. First I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Ann Skinner all my Goods, Chattels and Personal ....[?] whatsoever and of what nature, kind of quality soever the same may be to have and to hold the same for and during the term of her natural life if she remain my Widow sole and unmarried and not else and after the decease of my said wife or marriage again which shall happen then I give and bequeath all such Goods, Chattels and Personal Estate as is there remaining in the Hands of my said Wife unto my son William Skinner his heirs, executors and Assignee? Subject to the payment of the following legacies. First I give and bequeath to my two daughters Charity and Grace the sum of ten pounds each. Also I give and bequeath unto my four daughters (viz) Mary Mills[?], Eliz Croker[?], Susan Oldridge and Ann Ind..[?] The sum of five pounds each and I will and direct[?] That the legacies, ..[?] given and bequeathed shall be paid to them severally and respecting by my said son William Skinner at the expiration of two years. Years next after the decease or marriage again of my said wife and thereby Nominal And Appraisal of my said son William Skinner sole executor of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof the said John Skinner the Testator have to this my last will and testament set and Subscribed my hand and seal this nineteenth day of November in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and twenty five.
