This detailed history of the Aylesbeare Church and parish contains many names, including a list of incumbents of Aylesbeare from 12 July 1261 through the 5 May 1985 appointment of Trevor Geoffrey Woodbridge, who succeeded the author as incumbent. A list of "Owners, Occupiers and Estates in Aylesbeare in 1814" designates owner or representative, occupier, estate [name], acreage (orchard, mead, arable, total), "Hay," and number of cows. An appendix, "Extracts from the Tithe Apportionment 1844," lists additional names of farms, acreage, occupier, and "Interesting field names."
A footnote on page 171 notes that "A detailed survey of each parish was made showing on a large scale plan every property of the parish with the names of the owner and occupier and the assessment allotted. There were three copies made, one for the parish, one for the diocese and one for the Public Record Office."
Spellings and capitalizations are they appear in the original.
