"BEAWORTHY, (or Beworthy), a parish in the hundred of Black Torrington, in the county of Devon, 6½ miles to the S.W. of Hatherleigh. Launceston is its post town. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Exeter, value £143, late in the patronage of Sir W. Molesworth. The tithes are commuted at £145 per annum, with 68½ acres of glebe. The church, a plain building with chancel and tower, is dedicated to St. Alban. The Bible Christians have a chapel here, and there is a National school.
