BITTADON

BITTADON is a township and small parish, situated on the high road from Barnstaple to Ilfracombe, about equi-distant between them. The church, dedicated to St. Peter, is a very small ancient edifice, entirely covered with ivy. W.A.Yeo, is lord of the manor and chief land-owner. The Rev. Francis Mules, M.A., is the rector, and the living is valued at about £90. The parish, which is in the Barnstaple Union and Braunton Hundred, contains 1018 acres, and 51 inhabitants. UPCOTT is a farm.
