| This is the last will and testament of me Grace STEER of Bovey
Tracey in the County of Devon widow which I publish and order as
follows. Imprimus I give and bequeath to my nephew William FROST of
Moretonhampstead in this county the sum of fifty pounds also I give
and bequeath to my niece Grace Briogernait[?] now residing near
Cheltenham in the County of Gloucestershire the sum of fifty pounds
also I give and bequeath to my niece Mary Toms[?] of Charlton Kings
near Cheltenham in the County aforesaid the sum of fifty pounds
also I give and bequeath to my niece Ann MAJOR of Moretonhampstead
the sum of five pounds also I give and bequeath to my sister
Elizabeth HALLS my chest of drawers now in the room in which she
sleeps. The whole of the aforesaid monies to be paid within twelve
months after my decease. I also give and bequeath to my nephew John
CONIAM of Bovey Tracey in the County of Devon smith by occupation
all the rest residue and remainder of my goods chattels and real
and personal estate whatever and wheresoever after paying all my
just debts legacies funeral? and testamentary expenses. I also
nominate constitute and appoint my nephew John Coniam hereinbefore
mentioned sole executor of this my last will and testament hereby
revoking all former will or testaments by me made [?] in witness
whereof I the said Grace STEER the testatrix have hereunto [?] my
hand and seal this twenty eighth day of October 1845. The mark of Grace STEER X Signed sealed declared and published by the above named Grace STEER as and for a last will and testament in the presence of us was at her request in her presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as in witness hereto the words the testatrix being first interlined also [?] [?] and and the [?] in the date were first made. [?] Sills - Thomas STEER - William SHERSTON Proved at London 16th December 1845 before the judge by the oath of John CONIAM the nephew the sole Executor to whom Admon was granted having been first sworn by Canon duly to administer. |
NB. The surnames have been changed to uppercase to aid family historians. This was a difficult document to transcribe since it was written in a small crabbed hand. Words that could not be deciphered or which or the transcriber was unsure about are marked with [?].
