"BUCKLAND-IN-THE-MOOR, a parish in the hundred of Haytor, in the county of Devon, 3 miles to the N.W. of Ashburton. It is situated in the forest quarter of Dartmoor, on the banks of the river Dart. The living is a perpetual curacy annexed to the vicarage of Ashburton, in the diocese of Exeter. The church has a carved screen of wood. The produce of the parish lands, for the relief of the poor, is about £33 per annum. Buckland House is the principal residence."
