COFFINSWELL

[Description(s) from The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland (1868)]

"COFFINSWELL, a parish in the hundred of Haytor, in the county of Devon, 3½ miles N.E. of Torquay, and 3 S.E. of Newton-Abbott, its post town, both which places are railway stations on the South Devon branch of the Great Western railway. The living is a curacy annexed to the vicarage* of St. Mary-Church, in the diocese of Exeter, in the patronage of the dean and chapter. The church, dedicated to St. Bartholomew, is an ancient edifice, with tower. Sir W. P. Carew, Bart., is lord of the manor."
