Devon to Wit: A True Exact and Perfect List Alphabetically of the Name or Names of all and every Person or Persons who on the 25th day of October 1760 was or were or at any time since have been, and at the time of making out this List is and are really an Actual Prisoner or Prisoners in ye Custody of Sir John Davie Bart Sheriff of the said County of Devon or of me Humphrey Wilcocks Goaler and Keeper of the said Sheriffs Ward or Prison kept at the Parish of Saint Thomas the Apostle in the said County upon any Process whatsoever for or by reason of any debt damage Costs Sum or Sums of money Contempt or otherwise [Except such persons as are therein particularly mentioned and described to have died or been discharged] and an account of the time when such prisoner or prisoners was or were respectively charged in custody or received in prison together with the Name or Names of the person or persons at whose suit or prosecution such Prisoner or Prisoners is or are detained and the time when such Prisoner or Prisoners were discharged or died. Pursuant to an Act of Parliament made and passed in the first year of the Reign of his Majesty King George the third over Great Britain and soforth; Intitled An Act for the Relief of Insolvent Debtors as follows; to wit:

A The First Part. Containing A True Exact and perfect List Alphabetically of the Name or Names of such of the said person or persons as was and were upon the 25th day of October 1760 really and truly Prisoners in Actual Custody in the said prison at the Suit or Suits of the severall persons therein respectively mentioned.

I Humphrey Wilcocks upon my Corporal oath in the presence of Almighty God do solemnly swear profess and declare that all and every person or persons whose name or names are Inserted and Conained in the first part of the List by me now delivered and subscribed was and were to the best of my knowledge and belief on the twenty fifth day of October One thousand seven hundred and Sixty really and truly prisoners in actual custody in the prison or Goal of St Thomas ye Apostle at ye suit ot suits of the severall persons therein respectively mentioned and also that all and every person and persons whose name or names are inserted or contained in ye second part of ye said list now by me delivered in and subscribed as aforesaid have since the said Twenty fifth day of October one thousand seven hundred and sixty been committed or surrendered to ye said goal or prison of St Thomas ye Apostle at ye suit or suits of the several person or persons therein respectively mentioned and that all and every of them whose name and names is and are contained in ye List is a true exact perfect and just List of all such persons as were really and truly prisoner in actual custody in ye goal or prison of St Thomas ye Apostle on ye said twenty fifth day of October 1760 and were since as 25th October 1760 were really and truly committed or surrendered to ye said goal or prison of St Thomas ye Apostle [Except as before and in ye said Act is Excepted] to ye best of my knowledge and belief and that none of such prisoners to my knowledge or with my privity have voluntarily or with design or in expectation to take any benefit from or under any Act of Parliament to be made for relief of Insolvent, Debtors, surrendered or been committed to ye said prison of St Thomas ye Apostle or got his or her or their name or names entered as prisoner or prisoners in ye said books of the said prison or since their committment have been to my knowledge or with my privity resided out of ye said prison of St Thomas ye Apostle So help me God.
