DEAN-PRIOR

[Description(s) from The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland (1868)]

"DEAN-PRIOR, a parish in the hundred of Stanborough, in the county of Devon, 3½ miles S.W. of Ashburton, and 4½ N.W. of Totnes. The village is small. The living is a vicarage* in the diocese of Exeter, value £282, in the patronage of Lord Churston. The church is dedicated to St. George the Martyr. The charities amount to £16 per annum. There is a school for both sexes. The Forest harriers meet at Dean Moors."
