Contents & Search

The Record Office's official web page provides details of opening times, service points, their professional genealogical research service, and a newsletter. The North Devon Record Office has a similar web page.
The email address of the Devon Record Office, Exeter, is: devrec@devon.gov.uk, and that of the North Devon Record Office, Barnstaple, is ndevrec@devon.gov.uk.
The Plymouth and West Devon Record Office has split from the Devon Record Office, since it has come under the control of Plymouth Unitary Authority/Council. It now has its own web-site at http://www.plymouth.gov.uk/archives, and the email address pwdro@plymouth.gov.uk.
All three Record Offices' catalogues are now largely online, as part of A2A (the Access to Archives network), whose search page allows one to choose to focus a search on the holdings of a particular record office. However, the Plymouth and West Record Office also has its own online catalogue - this should be used in conjunction with A2A as most of the records deposited prior to 2005 are on A2A and those deposited after 2005 are on the online catalogue.
