Parish Registers in the Devon Record Office

Full details of the Record Office's large collection of Parish Registers are given in:
Parish, Non-Parochial and Civil Registers in the Devon Record Office. Devon Record Office, Exeter (June 1997) 51p.
which is available by post from the Devon Record Office, at a cost of £2.50 plus (within the UK) postage and packing fee of £0.50p.

However an online-version of this listing is now available.

This listing, which is regularly updated, details the Record Office's holdings, listing the years covered by the various registers, for baptisms, marriages and burials, and noting any lengthy gaps in coverage. It also indicates which of the branches of the Devon Record Office hold the original registers - though, as registers are microfilmed, so microfilm copies are made available at all three branches, and selected microfilms are made available at various local service points.

The non-parochial register holdings include ones from Baptist, Congregational, Evangelical, Methodist, Quaker, Roman Catholic, and Unitarian churches and chapels. The civil registers are mainly from cemeteries and workhouses.

See the Record Office's official web pages for details of their professional genealogical research service.
