TThe beautifully reproduced photographs in this book cover the period from 1845 to the outbreak of the First World War (1914). The author has provided an informative introduction to the collection and has provided commentaries on the majority of photographs. The book's pages are not numbered, however each photograph is, and since the book has not been indexed, this index will list names by photograph number.
