The sub-title of this volume states: Now preserved in the Probate Registry at Exeter. This of course is unfortunately no longer true - and the reference numbers recorded with each entry in the Calendar now have little utility.

This FRYA index is at present just a small sample, from the pages headed: The Principal Registry of the Bishop of Exeter. 1555-1568. The complete book, copies of which are held by SOG, WSL, the LDS Family History Library, and a number of major reference libraries and various record offices, contains of the order of 35,000 entries. A scanned copy is now also available online in the Internet Archive.

will, and for brief extracts. The county/country name field uses the appropriate (three-letter) Chapman Code.)
