"EAST ALLINGTON, a parish in the hundred of Stanborough, in the county of Devon, 3 miles to the N.E. of Kingsbridge. It is a considerable village and parish, widely scattered, containing the hamlets of Combe, Harleston, Mounts, Yetson, Cole's Crop, Venn, and Weare Bridge. The living is a rectory* in the diocese of Exeter, value £510, in the patronage of W. B. Fortescue, Esq. The church is dedicated to St. Andrew, and contains a screen of wood and a pulpit, both richly carved, some brasses and monuments of the Fortescues. The parish is a meet for the Slapton harriers.
