In the Name of God Amen. I James Parsons now residing at
Stockley with my Brother Emanuel Parsons in the parish of
Highampton in the County of Devon being of sound mind memory and
understanding and duly considering the uncertainty of human life
and to prevent controversies after my decease do make this my last
Will and Testament. First and principally I commit my Soul into the
hands of my blessed Maker trusting in his Mercies and in the merits
of my dear Redeemer Jesus Christ for the remission of all my Sins
My Body I commit to the Earth to be decently interred at the
discretion of my Executor herinafter named. As to my Temporal
Estate I bequeath and dispose of in the following manner that is to
say First I give and bequeath unto my beloved Brother Emanuel
Parsons at Stockley in the parish of Highampton in the County of
Devon the sum of ten pounds. Secondly I give and bequeath unto my
beloved Sister Jane Quick now residing at Shebbear in this County
the sum of five pounds. Thirdly I give and bequeath unto my beloved
Brother Louis Parsons of Jacobstow in this County the sum of five
pounds. Fourthly I give and bequeath unto my beloved Daughter Jane
Watkins now residing in London the sum of nineteen pounds nineteen
shillings. Fifthly I give and bequeath unto my beloved Nephew James
Parsons Son of Emanuel Parsons the sum of five pounds and Lastly I
give and bequeath to my beloved Nephew Jonathan Parsons now living
at Stockley in the parish of Highampton in this County After paying
my Funeral Expences and all my just debts All the money I have in
the Savings Bank and Sums of money payable to me on Notes of hand
together with all the Sum or Sums of money that may be due or owing
to me and all that I may die possessed of to his sole use and
behoof whom I hereby nominate and appoint my whole and sole
Executor of this my last Will and Testament And I hereby enjoin and
strictly bind and charge my said Nephew Jonathan Parsons whom I
have chosen to be my sole Executor to provide for and maintain my
beloved Brother Emanuel Parsons and Elizabeth Parsons his wife as
long as they both shall live free from any charge for the same. And
I do hereby utterly disallow revoke and dis[....] all and every
other former Testaments Wills Legacies Bequests and Executors by me
in any ways before named willed and bequeathed ratifying and
confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament The
above legacies are to be paid by my Executor three months after my
decease. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal
this nineteenth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand
eight hundred and fifty two and in the fifteenth year of the Reign
of Her Majesty Queen Victoria

Proved 18th October 1852 in the Principal Registry of the Lord
Bishop of Exeter by the Oath of Jonathan Parsons the sole Executor
to whom Probate was granted.
