Holcombe Rogus is a parish and village 6 miles from Wellington and 1½ from Burlescombe railway station, in the north division of the county, hundred of Bampton, union and county court district of Wellington (Somerset), diocese and archdeaconry of Exeter, and rural deanery of Tiverton. The church is dedicated to All Saints, and has a tower containing five bells. The living is a vicarage, annual value £300, with residence, in the gift of W.C.Rayer, Esq, who is also lord of the manor. The Rev. John Pascoe Mayne is the vicar. The Baptists have a chapel. There are two schools for boys and girls. The acreage is 3000, of which the chief owners are Rev. E.Fursdon, R.H. Clarke, Esq and Mr John Hill. The population is about 740.
