HUNTSHAW

[Description(s) from The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland (1868)]

"HUNTSHAW, a parish in the hundred of Fremington, county Devon, 3 miles N.E. of Great Torrington, its post town, and 5 N.W. of the Bideford railway station. The tithes have been commuted for a rent-charge of £190. The living is a rectory* in the diocese of Exeter, value £182. The church, dedicated to St. Mary, is an ancient structure, with a tower containing three bells. The parochial charities produce about £1 14s. per annum. There is a National school for both sexes, in which a Sunday-school is held. Lord Clinton is lord of the manor."
