This is the last Will and Testament of me Thomas Brown of
the parish of Lifton Devon Blacksmith.
First I assign my soul to Almighty God
my Creator I give to my son Thomas the
smiths shop with every thing thereto
belonging Also the house he now lives in
and the two chambers over only his brother
John to have room for a bed over the
Coopers shop also one of the lower chamber Beds
and all my Wearing Apparel my great coat
excepted and half the Garden and
Malt house. I give to my son Christopher
the kitchen and the Chamber over with
the use of the Stairs and Wash house and dairy half the malt house
and the Great
John
Coat I give to my son ^ the Coopers shop
the half great tester bed and beding and the
small chamber in the malt house Also I give
him ten pounds lawful money to be
paid as the rest. I give to my son Richard
a half tester green bed and bedding.
I give to my sons Peter Brown, Henry Brown,
Henry, Richard, Charles and
Christopher Brown ten pounds to each lawful
money to be paid within twelve
months after my decease Also I give to my
daughter Elizabeth Palmer ten pounds
And to the children of my late son William
ten pounds to be paid within twelve
months after my decease to be divided
equally. All the rest residue and
remainder of my goods and chattels of what
kind or wheresoever I give and
bequeath to my daughter Thomasin Arscott
Brown after paying any just debts or
whatever expence may be And I do nominate
and appoint my said daughter
Thomasin Arscott Brown whole and sole
Executrix of this my last Will and
Testament As Witness hereto I place my hand
and seal this twenty third
day of October One thousand eight hundred
twenty and four
