Will of John Castell, Husbandman of Modbury, Devon

In the name of God Amen I John Castell of Modbury in the Countye of Devon
husbandman beinge but sicke and weeke of bodye but perfit of minde and
remembrance( thaunkes be given to Almightie God ffirst and before all
thinges I give my Soule to God my Creator and Christ my Redeemer And my
bodie to Christian buryall It[em] for my temporall goodes I give and
bequeath as followeth It[em] I give & bequeath unto John Castell my sonne
ffive pounds lawfull money of England and all my wearing Clothes It[em] I
give and bequeath unto Johan Luckcraft my daughter ffive pounds of lawful
money of England It[em]? I give to Honor her eldest daughter one puddyn
dishe of tynne It[em] I give unto my sonnes daughter Elizabeth one poddinger
of tynne It[em] I give unto Elizabeth my daughter Elizabeth Crispines
daughter one poddinger of tynne It[em] I give and bequeath unto Mary Castell
my daughter one great brasse Crocke It[em] I give and bequeath unto my
daughter Elizabeth Crispine one little brasse crocke and one table bord and
one little black coffer It[em] all the rest of my goodes and chattelle
movable and remmovable of what nature quality condition soever the same not
given nor bequeathed before I doe give and bequeath unto Mary Castell my
daughter and Elizabeth Crispine my daughter whom I appoint and ordain to be
my whole and sole Executrixes of this my last Will and testament In witnes
to this my last Will and testament I the said John Castell have hereunto set
my hand and seale the third day of ffebruary in the yeare of our Lord God
one thousand five hundred and fiftye fower [1654].

This Will was proved at London before Judges for probate of wills and
graunting of administrationes the Eleventh day of July in the yeare of our
Lord God one thousand sixe hundred fiftye five by the oathes of Mary Castell
and Elizabeth Crispin the daughters and executrixes etc to whom
administratiom was committes they being first sworn by Commission duely to
administer.
