SATTERLEIGH

[Description(s) from The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland (1868)]

"SATTERLEIGH, a parish in the hundred of South Molton, county Devon, 4 miles S.W. of South Molton, its post town, and about the same distance N.W. of South Molton Road railway station. The village, which is small, is situated on the river Mole, and is wholly agricultural. The tithes have been commuted for a rent-charge of £67, and the glebe comprises 28 acres. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Exeter, value £113. The church, dedicated to St. Mary, is an ancient edifice, restored in 1852. M. Byne, Esq., is lord of the manor."
